I am a City Carrier my wife is a RCA, I do understand both sides and support neither. I would like to see carriers doing thier work and quit stealing overtime. I am sure the P.O. I work at is not the only one with worthless carriers and clerks. Carriers not finishing thier routs on lights days, so someone has to work overtime to finish thier work. Way do these carriers have a job, our union backs them even when they know these carriers and clerks are not doing thier jobs. There is no integrity among these carriers and clerk who want a paycheck for bad or little work. FIRE these carriers and clerks, there are people out there who would work for thier paychecks. Thank you!!!!!

moving to a five day work week is not the best idea..can the united sates afford to lose anymore jobs.. by doing this and going to a five day work week we could take out 136,000 carriers out of work.. how about asking the people who work for the post office how they can save money.. lower the stamp and advertise to get people to come back to the post office..a five day work week is not the answer

Moving to five day would basically eliminate all the sub-carriers (RCA) like myself. We depend on that extra delivery day for our paychecks. I agree with you, letter carrier - there are many pros/cons in this. Sadly, it is not just us sub carriers who'd be almost out of a job entirely, but some of our office mgmt would affected as well.

I am not in support of this proposal. And several of our routes have trucking companies that DO depend on that extra day for their business operations.

Address Quality is so important I could not agree with this more. Address Quality is independent of actual mail piece delivery y the USPS or e-delivery of statements, bills. This is because physical delivery of purchases still needs the correct address and a lot of shippers will not deliver their goods to post office boxes. Of course Address Quality is still critical for the highest level of Automation discounts of physical mail but Address Quality is also important to marketers to aid in proper geocoding - part of a Location Intelligence program for trageting either by e-mail or physical mail.

Delivering five days a week wouldn't bother me a bit, but can we make it a Wednesday or Thursday that gets eliminated instead of Saturday? That way, we don't have two consecutive days without delivery.

A few years ago I thought the USPS should stop messing around and raise prices by a nickel or a dime instead of a penny or two; just get it done! Even if it cost 50 cents to mail a letter, that's still pretty cheap paying someone to pick up your letter and get to the other end of the country. Hopefully that would stop a lot of junk mail too. Oh, I could live with M-F mail service too.

If the USPS were a company that ran like a company, then they'd do everything they do differently. I applaud the PMG for trying to change things. Let's see how Congress and the unions respond. It'll be interesting.

As a letter carrier I can see pro's and cons. I think the Saturday elimination would provide a huge finacial boost. I think it is very important to be able to "evolve or die". Customers would eventually adjust too. All in all I support this proposal.
